MVE has made the cover once again, that's right, the cover of Caltrux magazine, you can view it at www .caltrux.org at the bottom of the home page, see it at www.mtnvly.com click on the news tab or look for a hard copy at your terminal. A picture of our truck is featured on the cover, due to our participation at the State Finals of the Truck Driving Championships, and for all of the things that we do for our California Trucking Association. We are at the front of the pack with our fine looking equipment and drivers, thank you for that.
Wearing your helmet, it is a California law to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle at any age or a bicycle when under the age of 16. Our very own, Dan Souza's son, Zachary experienced the lack of a helmet this past weekend. Zach was riding down a concrete drainage pond with no helmet and lost control, crashing and fracturing his skull. He is doing well now, and is resting at home, however what a scare it has been for the entire Souza family. Our thoughts and prayers have been with them throughout their ordeal. Sometimes we wonder why certain laws are in place, such as the hands free cell phone law, and the seat belt law, when in reality, it is for the safety and well being of all of us citizens. Wear your helmet it's the LAW……
Professionalism and appearance are two things that we strive to maintain at a very high standard here at MVE, and two of the positions in our company that need to adhere to these principles are our Drivers and our Customer Service professionals. These two positions interact with our customers either in person or on the phone, more than any other position in our company. The driver sees our customers on a daily basis and interacts with them in a very professional manner; we also provide uniforms to carry out the appearance of the Professional Driver that delivers the goods for the MVE customer. In Customer Service, you interact with the customer on the phone, and put forth a professional appearance in the manner in which you speak on the phone, this is called phone etiquette. Often times, you are the first point of contact for our customers. Remember, when you approach the customer at a pickup or delivery or are reaching to answer that ringing phone in the office, you are about to interact with a customer and please do so with the utmost professionalism, and a smile on your face, that of which our customers have grown accustomed to here at MVE.
Environmental Front- I have been appointed to head up the Green effort of the CTA, the Association has a goal of promoting Green practices within the membership. Due to the fact that MVE is out in front with our own Green campaign, it was an obvious choice that MVE head up this campaign as well. Our Sales Dept. has begun to hand out our GO GREEN information to all of our customers; we are also handing out a spiral fluorescent light bulb, packaged in our own MVE GO GREEN box, to signify our Green Compliance. It is also our effort to help all of our customers practice Green and to be environmentally responsible. Are you using spiral fluorescent bulbs in your home? They last up to 7 years and only use 13 watts of power to give you 60 watts of light. This week's Calif. Average price for diesel fuel is $5.03 per gallon. We are shopping the price each time we take a load, in order to buy at the lowest level possible. We are also implementing an Energy Management position within the Maintenance Dept. in order to analyze and negotiate pricing on all of our energy costs.
