President's Message

Greetings, I must begin by saying congratulations to Meg Whitman for winning the primary election against Steve Poizner. If you recall, MVE has aligned itself behind Meg Whitman for Governor of California. Meg will now go up against her Democratic opponent Jerry Brown who has already been Governor of California and Mayor of Oakland. For true reform and to help business in creating real jobs in our State, Meg Whitman is the only candidate that has a real plan to do just that. Just go to Megwhitman.com and you can read her plan of action to create jobs and fix our education system. She is currently running an ad on television that shows trucks and a cross dock operation as one example of how trucking brings jobs. She has and will continue to recognize the value that trucking brings to our economy, as well as the fact that the California Trucking Association and Industry stands behind her. I welcome your comments or questions to my desk in regards to the value of Meg for Governor.

Logo Integrity, what does this mean to our company? I first heard the term when we were in the process of changing our company logo, or trademark. What the term refers to , is keeping a continuous flow of the same characteristics throughout your logo process. So whatever you print, read or publish, or apply to, the company trademark (logo) remains exactly the same. No Exceptions. Think of Pepsi Cola, anyone o f you could pick out the Pepsi logo in a line up. (logo Integrity) The same holds true of our company policy and procedures, they must flow throughout our company with continuity and with the exact same characteristics and meaning. So, in other words, we must all adhere to the same processes and work practice at all terminal locations. One example of that would be the Security policy of locking any and all loaded trailers in the same manner throughout the entire company with No Exceptions. Loading and securing of freight inside trailers would be no different. We have a company policy of tying and properly securing all freight at all times, in order to ensure no damage occurs while in transit. This policy is the reason that MVE enjoys a continual .41% claims ratio. If you are not sure of your Terminal's proper Policy and Procedure and you as an individual want to maintain your company's Logo Integrity, ask your Supervisor so you can perform your job the Exact same way that it is performed at all other terminals. Prompt, Courteous, and Dependable; this is the ultimate outcome to the customer in our maintaining ultimate, Company Wide Logo Integrity.

Environmental Front - We are meeting this week in Las Vegas at the Great West Truck Show and holding meetings. One of which is our Environmental Policy Committee Meeting. We are discussing the Jobs Initiative bill that has been introduced to hold back AB 32/ Green House gas reduction regulation. We are also waiting to hear what CARB will announce in August on the ultimate Economic Impact of the Private Fleet Rule and if there will be any delays in implementation. Stay Tuned.

Freight Volumes are up and you are all doing a great job of taking care of our customers. Keep a positive attitude. We are not seeing any signs of these volumes reducing,, only increasing. Keep it Professional at all times and you will be a better person for it and our customers will always remember it.

Until Next time, MVE GO GREEN

Scott Blevins, President
